We have finished the introduction of a new energy system "Co-Generation System", called "CGS" for short, in the Fuji Plant and started its operation at the end of August 2000, which generates both electricity and heat energy simultaneously from a single source of fuel. The fuel used in this system is town gas consisting mainly of methane. Town gas is such clean fuel with less carbon content than in light or heavy oil that the system emits very little SOx, dust and less carbon dioxide. Furthermore, the system is furnished with burning equipment designed to reduce NOx emission drastically. As mentioned above, CGS is an environment-friendly system, which reduces air pollution and realizes energy saving by increasing total efficiency of electricity and steam energy.
