On October 3, 2000, Amfine Chemical Corporation, one of our subsidiaries in the United States, carried out the ceremony for the completion of a new manufacturing plant of plastic additives in the State of Kentucky with the attendance of around 120 people including Mr. Iwashita (Chairman & CEO of Asahi Denka Kogyo), Mr. Sone (Managing Director of Mitsubishi Corporation), and other people concerned with the company, and the guests from the state government, local bodies, financial institutions and customers in the United States.

Amfine Chemical was established in March 1996 for the marketing and manufacture of Asahi Denka's plastic additives, with a joint investment of Asahi Denka (60%), Mitsubishi Corporation (30%) and Mitsubishi International (10%). It has since been actively striving for market development and increasing its sales in the U. S. market at a favorable pace. The new plant completed this time will be a production base for a full-fledged development and further expansion of our plastic additives business in the U.S. market.
