Top CSR Framework Message from Top Management

Contemporary society is facing various problems, such as those of the global environmental, human rights and labor issues, regional conflicts, international terrorism, and poverty, among others. Corporations are expected to deal with these issues sincerely and to contribute to sustainable development through sound business activities in harmony with society. In line with the trend in expectations that corporate social responsibility (CSR) be conducted with a global perspective, Asahi Denka Group also acknowledges the importance of CSR. Our management principles are:

gAim to become a leading active corporation that is sensitive to social changeh
gBe a respected member of the world community.h

Under these principles, we seek to contribute to the realization of a healthy and prosperous society by developing and providing healthy and quality products/ services that are suited to the needs of the society.

In order to carry out these principles, we established the gAsahi Denka Group Action Charterh in February 2003 and reinforced compliance through our entire business activities. Through transparent corporate activities we seek to take a socially responsible role, considering the interests of shareholder, customers, consumers, employees, local community, and the environment.

As a manufacturer, Asahi Denka Group sees efforts at solving environmental issues as the most important challenge. We have been engaged in minimization of negative environmental impacts in various aspects of corporate activities, i.e. development of environmentally sound products, reducing resource use, saving energy, and reducing waste generation.

The importance of compliance management and risk management has increased in recent years. Demand for the active social contribution of corporations has been growing.

Asahi Denka Group intends to fulfill its social responsibility in various areas through compliance, increase of profit and returns to society, social contribution, as well as environmental protection.

In order to present Asahi Denka Groupfs CSR efforts from a broader perspective, we have published gCSR Reporth, which includes our social and economic activities, in addition to gEnvironmental Reporth of the past.

By reading this report, we hope you learn about Asahi Denkafs principles and efforts toward social responsibility and environmental management. Your comments would be greatly appreciated.
