  Asahi Denka Group actively promotes ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001, HACCP, and TPM* activities. In 2004, Sohma Factory obtained IMS (Integrated Management System) certification that encompasses ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001.

1. Status of Management System Acquired

  Sohma factory obtained IMS (Integrated Management System) certification which is an integration of the ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 systems. Kashima factory started preparation for IMS certification. In addition we are working on management system improvements in accordance with standard revisions of ISO14001. In February 2005, regular investigation approved that Kashima factory meets 2004 version of revised standard. Employee ratio of Asahi Denka factories obtaining ISO14001 reached 52%.

2. Certification Measures

1) Sohma Factory Obtained IMS* Certification

Four distinctive features of IMS are as follows:
1. Emphasize Factory Management:	Factory management policy and objectives are made based on the headquarters' principles.
2. Emphasize Performance:	Requires assurance and increase of profit and decrease of product complaints and accidents.
3. Emphasize Policy Management:	Carries out IMS* risk assessment (risk assessment from three perspectives; quality, environment, and safety). →　extract a theme →　manage the implementation of policy to minimize risks. Implementation shall be consistent with the plant management policy.
4. Reduction of Management Forms and Papers:	Integration of the 3 ISO systems enables reduction of manuals, standard forms and papers.

2) Transfer Investigation to revised standard of ISO14001
  We are working on management system improvement in accordance with standard revision of ISO14001. In February 2005, regular investigation approved that Kashima Factory meets 2004 version of revised standards. We focused on compliance with related regulations and capacity building of internal auditors.
