In the FY 2007, energy saving goal of 1% reduction of steam and electricity consumption per unit production to the previous FY was achieved. Major reasons for the achievement were operation stop of the plant for 3 months and production amount reduction of high energy requiring products. However, CO₂ emission of FY2007 shows a 3.8% increase compared to FY1990, when looking at the change of energy consumption equivalent to crude oil, CO₂ emission and production amount in the past 5 years.
In addition, even though energy consumption unit per production equivalent to crude oil and CO₂ emission unit per production have been decreasing slightly, they doubled compared to FY1990, due to the change of products composition with a increase of high energy requiring products.

Industrial wastes from our factory include organic and inorganic sludge, waste oil including waste solvent, waste alkali, and waste acid. We seek for prevention of waste generation through improvement of production processes and strengthening of management.
Improvement of production process of CI plant *, there has been no inorganic sludge generated since FY2003.
For the waste alkali, we have established a system of mixing it with waste acid. We have continuously achieved zero emission of waste alkali since 2005; however, 504t of waste water that include foam fire-extinguisher was released as waste alkali to be treated by the external subcontractor at the time of accident in July last year.
As for the waste oil, we have been working on utilization of it as fuel. In FY2007, 46t of the waste oil was utilized as fuel.

For re-starting our operation in November last year, a large scale fire drill for the case of fire disaster of chemical tank was carried out in October, together with the Kuwana Fire Department and ADEKA Corporation.
