Introduction of Cogeneration System*
We have introduced Cogeneration System (CGS) in May 2008 and have been working on activity for energy and resource saving. We will keep a balance between technology and environment by enhancing these activities more.
CGS provides electricity and steam by burning city gas by a gas turbine and through flow boiler. Through such combustion, 10,000Nm3 per hour exhaust gas is emitted. Nitrogen Oxides (NOX) in this exhauste gas are periodically measured.
* Cogeneration System: an efficient energy supply system to supply energy and heat by recovering waste heat from internal combustion.

Energy Saving and Reduction of Greenhouse Gas
In our factory, mainly, steam is used as a safe heat source when reacting and heating chemical products and electricity is used when driving cooling devices and heavy machineries.
We set energy amount (specific energy consumption) required to producing 1 ton product as an indicator. Our goal is 1% reduction of it compared to FY 2007. Also we promote to reduce energy consumption amount and greenhouse gas emission. However we couldn't achieve our goal, 1% reduction as the energy consumption amount in the entire factory had increased due to the launch of an new electron material plant and products production requiring more energy in this 3 years.
We assume maximum 5% reduction of energy consumption and maximum 3% reduction of greenhouse gas emission by introducing Cogeneration System (CGS) in May this year. We continue to proceed with energy saving and global warming prevention.

Zero Emission Continued
Final land-fill amount is the amount that waste is land filled finally. In FY 2007, final land-fill amount was 6.3t and zero emission ratio was 0.5%, these values mean to have been achieved our goal. We will continue to achieve zero emission.

*Our Definition of Zero Emission: Making the ratio of final landfill less than 1% of the waste disposal by commissioned subcontractors
Zero Emission Ratio (%) = (Final Land-fill Amount / Waste Treatment by Commissioned Subcontractors) * 100

We also set our target value for reduction of waste disposal by commissioned subcontractors. Unit value of waste is the waste amount (waste disposal amount by commissioned subcontractors) discharged when producing 1 ton product. We have set our goal 0.0141t/t in FY 2007, using the value as an indicator. The goal was achieved with 0.0139t/t. Wood waste is now considered as industrial waste since Fy2008, because of the regulation change. Therefore, we set the new target for reduction and work on reduction activities.

Tense Moment (Hiyari) KY* Activity
We have introduced the system to report the experiences which all employees feel any danger is going to happen such as disaster and accident during their work in our factory. The report is kept on the reasons why tense moment (hiyari) was happened and the person and his/her boss discuss retrospective review and measure of the problem till they agree with the content. Additionally this report is referred to each division in our factory depending on the content. Thus we achieve zero disaster to decrease hidden dangerous spots and work which are difficult to be found through ordinary Risk Assessment.
*KY : Risk Prediction
