Explosion and Fire Accident Report
We truly regret the cause of explosion and fire accident occurred at about 21:30, 23rd July, 2007. The cause of the fire is estimated to be an explosion of preproduction final separation bath.
Due to this accident, 1 employee was severely damaged. Even though we had "No Accident" record for the past 32 years due to our safety activities, we will further promote accident preventative measures.

Environmentally Sound Product Design and Production Processes Improvement
Our lubricant material products are expected to grow in the market as they are environmentally sound non-chlor system.
The waste amount from our factory has been growing, as new products increase. However, we constantly improve production processes. In FY2006 we achieved 9% reduction of waste generation amount per 1t new production compared to the previous FY and 4% reduction of waste oil generation per 1t new production compared to the previous FY.

Energy Saving Measures
As production of products that consumes large amount of energy in production processes has been increasing 1.5 times in the past few years, the specific steam consumption per production unit has increased by 13%. In the meantime, the specific electricity consumption per production unit has decreased by 0.8%, as a result of introduction of energy saving type compressor and vacuum pump in FY2004 and FY2005. In total of FY2006; however, we could not achieve the quantitative goal neither for steam nor for electricity.
In FY2007 we plan to introduce 2 vacuum pumps as a replacement of ejectors to achieve reduction of specific steam consumption per unit.

Reduction of Industrial Waste
Industrial wastes from our factory include organic and inorganic sludge, waste oil, including waste solvent, waste alkali, and waste acid. We seek for prevention of waste generation through improvement of production processes and strengthening of management.

Inorganic Sludge:
Improvement of production process of CI plant, there has been no inorganic sludge generated since FY2003.
Waste Alkali:
Establishment of the system of mixing waste alkali and waste acid realized generation of no waste alkali since FY2005.
Waste Acid:
Measures to reduce rinsing water of batch products enabled 9% reduction of specific waste acid generation per specific production unit and the goal has been achieved.
Waste oil:
Change of the distillment parameter following the introduction of large distillation tank resulted in reduction of oil waste amount left in the pot and increase of productivity. It led to 4.2% reduction of specific oil waste generation per production unit and achievement of reduction goal.
Even though specific oil waste generation per production unit has been reduced, production amount has been increasing; therefore, the amount of waste oil disposal treated by sub-contractors has been increasing.

We will continue to research measures to prevent waste generation and to treat the waste in an effective manner.

Continuous Zero Emission Achievement
We have achieved zero emission since the second half of FY2004, as recycling of waste incineration ash led to the ratio of final landfill less than 1% of the waste disposal by commissioned subcontractors. Zero emission has been continued in FY2006.

Interaction with Local CommunityCleaning-up of Factory's Neighborhood
Together with our mother company's factory, ADEKA Mie Factory, we regard interaction with local community as important. We participate in various events organized by the town and interact with local community members. In addition, we continue cleaning-up of the neighborhood of our factory as a regular event.
