Digest
Air Pollution
The waste fluid generated from our production process is incinerated in the effluent incinerator of our factory. In the incineration process, exhaust gas is emitted through the chimney. We analyze toxic component of the exhaust gas once in every 3 months. For soot, and NOx, environmental goal is maintained. For SOx, we have continued to achieve the amount below measurable limit. Dioxin has been less than 1/10 of legally permitted amount.

Water Quality
Waste water generated in our factory is treated by incineration, microorganism decomposition, and activated carbon adsorption treatment. We set environmental goals for COD emission amount and phosphorous emission amount and manage the emissions. For both emissions, we have been achieving the goal since 2003.

Change of COD Emission

Change of Phosphorous Emission

Achieving Zero Emission
ADEKA's definition of zero emission is making the ratio of final landfill less than 1% of the waste disposal by commissioned subcontractors. We continued to achieve zero emission for FY2006.
We also set goal for waste disposal unit by commissioned subcontractors. In FY2006, the goal was 0.0145t/t. The goal was achieved with actual unit being 0.0142t/t.

Energy Saving Activities
We set specific energy unit per production as an indicator, i.e., energy required to produce 1 ton product. It is calculated by dividing annual energy consumption amount by production amount. Our goal is to reduce the specific energy unit per production by 1% compared to last year. In FY2006, we could not achieve this goal of 1% reduction, as energy consumption increased by 1% with various reasons, such as introduction of new electron related components production facility.

Change of Energy Unit per Production

Chemical Hazardous Substances Discharge and Transportation
In FY2006, PRTR Law Target Chemical Substances used in our factory amounted to 40 kinds. The total consumption amounted to 59,000t, a 4% increase compared to previous year. Emission to the air was 1.6t, a 16% increase. Waste transportation amount was 27t, a 42% increase. Such increases are due to production increase at the electron related components production facility.
In the future, we seek to reduce waste and emission amount.

Safety and Health Objectives and Results
In FY2006, 5 accidents not resulted in leave of absence and 1 accident with minor damage occurred. About half of the accidents were caused by employees with less than 5 years work experience and 1/3 were by those with 6-10 years experience. One of our factory's labor safety objectives is set to be "zero accident by younger employees with less than 5 years work experience", as more accidents are caused by employees with less work experience.

FY2007OHSAS Objectives (Labor Safety Objectives)
1. Zero Accident/ Disaster
2. Assurance of Safety and Health
3. Inheritance of Skills through Emergency Preparedness Drill

Emergency Measures
We are a member of a collective disaster prevention group, a group consisting of companies in the industrial complex that collectively work in case of emergency, as our factory is located in an oil industrial complex. In FY2006, emergency preparedness drill for oil industrial complex of Chiba Prefecture was carried out, in addition to emergency drill planed in the environmental objectives. We continue to prepare for emergencies in FY2007.

Interaction with the Local Community
We place importance in interaction with the local community. We participate regularly in the Sodegaura Environmental Liaison Meeting, in which our factory is a member of, and exchange information such as wishes and complaint of local residents. In addition, we participate in the "Sea-side District Clean Up" organized by Sodegaura City and clean streets around the industrial complex.
